Dr. Wei Yan is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in computer science education, data science education, and culturally responsive STEM instruction. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Florida and has extensive experience designing and evaluating professional development programs that support equitable learning opportunities for underrepresented K–12 students. Her research focuses on understanding students’ problem-solving processes, struggles, and learning behaviors in computing contexts, and exploring how teachers design and implement culturally grounded computational thinking instruction. She has contributed to multiple research-practice partnership projects and has worked closely with teachers to integrate computer science into core subjects such as science and mathematics.
Dr. Yan’s work also includes the development of innovative learning materials and the use of emerging technologies, such as AI tools and data science platforms, to support meaningful and inclusive computing education. She is committed to advancing equitable access to high-quality CS/ DS education and supporting teachers in designing culturally relevant learning experiences.
