Hi! I am Naomi Yonas (she/her/hers)! I am a third-year undergraduate student studying Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at UC Berkeley.
I have been working on the Computer Science for Racial Justice (CS4RJ) since Spring 2022. Originally, I worked under the Curriculum Committee through UC Berkeley’s Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program (URAP). In 2022, I was one of the Facilitators for the Fall programming. Now, I am the Executive Lead on the project.
What makes me so excited to continue working on the CS4RJ project is how it reimagines how CS education can be justice-centered and how it is inclusive of students’ identities and stories. Who is included in CS historically? How can students intertwine their experiences and interests with CS? What matters to our students?
