Jonathan A. Pedroza (he/him), or JP, is a postdoctoral researcher in Data Science Education. JP received his PhD in Prevention Science from the University of Oregon. His research interests have spanned from health research, particularly examining health disparities and evaluating scales used in underrepresented populations, to education research where JP now focuses on early identification of struggling students in Data Science and Statistics courses and developing pedagogical computing practices among K-12 educators using computational notebooks.
Outside of research, JP writes on data science and statistics topics on his blog and builds tools for assessing student proficiency using diagnostic models.
